21 Bury St. was a magic place for me, where I obtained a passport to another world, a kaleidoscope of lands, of colour, and life changing experiences. The soft carpet, the glass panels, and the reverent hush at reception all somehow fitted the surreal experience of being offered the mystery of ship after ship, transporting me around the globe, with a great career thrown in, and the uncertainty of how each adventure might end. Not for me the short trips so eagerly sought by some - I relished the 2 year articles and would gladly have signed for 4!
We only get one life ( I think) and mine could not have been more satisfying, thanks to Andrew Weir and his no nonsense enterprise. Didn't we have fun!
