Ships Bell Christening

My sister was christened in the ships bell of HMS Newfoundland in the early 1950’s.
We were all told, or maybe I heard, that when this happened on any such occasion, that the child’s name was later inscribed on the inside of the bell.
Recently the ships bell of HMS Newfoundland was recently traced by my sisters husband to a church in Canada (in Newfoundland. Or possibly Halifax , Nova Scotia). A local told us there were no names inscribed in the ships bell.
So, is the ‘tradition’ untrue, is there possibly another HMS Newfoundland bell somewhere, suitably inscribed?
Thoughts would be appreciated, as my sister would if possible like to go and see the bell if it exists.
