Research - please can you help?

Hi,

I'm writing a play for BBC Radio 4, set on a cross Atlantic journey in 1931.

I have a load of questions which will grow as I write, and it would be so good to include some details of the way the ships worked, and their interiors. Is there anyone out there who may be able to help me?

Questions include: Could people send letters/telegrams? Would a steward have been in charge of a corridor of cabins? Lengths of voyages, where they would have landed (I've gone for Canada, but where in Canada?) Was there any mixing between classes of traveller? I's love to see some photographs of interiors. There is so much info on the internet and I don't want to make any howlers!

I'd be so grateful for any help.

Many thanks - Nell

Welcome aboard from East Yorkshire, Nell.
I'm sure you'll get a good response to your queries.
If you look in the gallery there are quite a few interior shots of passenger liners.
Afraid I'm a tramp ship man so can't help.
Find your way around our ship and enjoy the voyage.
