Greetings from Michigan!

Hello-
Greetings from Michigan! Enjoying (I think), our first snow in mid-Michigan this week. I'm sure those sailing on the Lakes are not enjoying the wind, snow & waves this time of year. Wish them all the best as they hurry for their last 2 months of shipping season. Some carry on into February on salt trips, weather pending.
I follow Canadian Great Lakes Shipping and hope to model some ships in the near future, time permitting of course. Included some historical photos of some of my favorites.
Thanks for reading!
-Andy

I was born and raised in Duluth 1940 but escaped to warm Southern California January 1972. I have lived in Huntington Beach, Santa Ana, Carlsbad and now for the past 27 years here in Vista my present home since May 1995. The longest I have lived anywhere including my parents' home.

I Consider myself a Californian, as that is where I became a naturalized American 59 years ago. I've also worked in New York City and lived in Connecticut and you can have my share of snow. I've lived for the past 23 years here in South Carolina, "Where nothing could be finer".

Welcome to this great nautical site "Algowest"
I see you have some of the old boats that alas are no longer with us. My old boat is there but under a different colour "Saskatchewan Pioneer"
This cold blast certainly is not good news for the boats for the next few weeks and is reminiscent of 1986/7 and the cold fall weather.
Enjoy it as many knowledgeable members here.

Recollect, on The Clyde, chipping ice off a piece of deck machinery to get at it and thinking: "I'm not doing this for the rest of my life!"

A few years later, I was happily sailing around there at night, accrueing hours, to be qualified skipper on our company yacht (With our Club Commodore below making Gaelic coffee - treat it like a real trip)

Capt - we've conversed before, great to hear from you! Really enjoyed your sea stories posted on the BN site. Best regards to you!

Greg, I think the Donald has made one of his Best Friends join. It will enliven our mornings for a while but I imagine we will soon grow weary of him.

He is best ignored and not responded to, although alas I fell into that trap which only feeds his malice

"Insert into thread" - Oh the irony, best ignored.
The thread is to introduce Andy, Algowest to the site and welcome him on board.
Well, welcome aboard. My primary knowledge of Michigan is that the map looks like a hand in a mitten - which one is advised to wear at this time of year.

??????

Who you

Just for the record Greg is well cool, I’ve met him, I’m sure he’s been insulted by experts in the past so I’m pretty positive he couldnt care less about your post. He really is that cool

Oh and how do Andy, was working a lot in Sept-Iles and Port Cartier last year, not exactly lakes but a lot of lakers just the same. Was also notably cool in November to February - still not as cool as Greg though

Anyone who spells Cool, Kewl, is really Cool. In fact a Kewl Dude.
If Greg was on Top Gear he would be in the "Sub Zero" section of the Cool Wall.
Poor old 242 would be lucky to make the "Seriously Un Cool" section.
