Papanui

Hi,
I am trying to get pic's off all the ships/trwlers i was aboard and am trying to find one off the Papanui. Can anyone help me please?

jack cotter here sailed as frig. eng.61-63 if anyone remembers.
Forced to have a night ashore in Halifak N.S. whilst the ship was fumigated--4 legged rats aboard!!

papanui circa 1924

can anyone give me any info on the papanui circa 1924.
my late father made 5 trips in her as a steward during the twenties.
any information would be appreciated.

Some info on the Papanui.
She was at least 14 years old when she entered service for the New Zealand Shipping Company.
Originally laid down and built by John Brown & Co Ltd, Clydebank for the Hamburg-Amerikanische Packetfahrt she was launched in August 1910 and named as "Preussen". Interned at Sabang August 1914 and was allocated to the British Government at the end of WWI. Sold December 1920 to Hain Steamship Co and renamed "Trevithick"
March 1923 collided with the steamer "Vechtdijk" bound New York to Barry
July 1924 sold to Federal Steam (NZSCo managers) and renamed Papanui.
November 1930 collided with two tugs and a lighter at St Nazaire, bound Port Pirie to Bristol and again in the same month struck by the steamer "Yorkshire at Avonmouth.
Laid up at Mylor January 1931 till December 1933 and then sold for demolition in Osaka, Japan.
Official Number 144525
8,046 tons gross
5,075 tons net
12,000 tons deadweight
3,700 ihp, 11 knots

Jack cotter... My dad Dave Bruce was an engineer on there at the same time as you and remembers you we'll, he mentioned meeting some of your family on one ocasion. He's well and enjoying life as a busy grandad.....best regards, his son...Neil
