NTLDR is missing

Hi Guys help needed, laptop I use to post images has come up with this message,

NTLDR is missing

CTRL-Alt-DEL to restart

When I do it is just an endless recycle

Tried windows 10 disc on restart but sometimes get MBR

is missing or corrupted.

Also tried Boot Genius program but still no luck.

New original disc on my Toshiba laptop was partitioned 50% to save my

shipping folders on so hopefully they should be safe.

Latest--- Managed to get into CMD prompt admin via Minitool Recovery and tried Bootsect / Rebuild

MBR etc but comes up with either MBR not found or MBR missing or corrupted.

Also no menu options at all, so cannot do restore etc

NTLDR missing

Quickie first - try this Since the "NTLDR is missing" issue is often caused by BIOS trying to load from an external non-bootable drive, you can try unplugging all external drives, and remove all removable media, such as CD, floppy disks, memory cards, and USB devices to make sure the BIOS doesn't try to load from any of them.16 Jan 2020

You obviously still have inet access so try this link :-

Last time I had that problem was with Win Xp and the only way out was to re-install the OS which is not much help if you haven't backed up..
Good luck anyway.

ps.. Might help if you give your PC/Laptop make and what OS you're (no longer) using.
Reason for asking..
Just been mucking around with a HP Compaq and the boot order is a can of worms..

Try the 'MiniTool Partition Wizard' program. (Search for Free version ).
It has a function to 'Rebuild Partition'. Haven't used that function, but could do the trick.
Good Luck!
Mike.

This post serves to illustrate and remind me just how totally ignorant I am about computers. It seems to me you guys are conversing in a Chinese dialect.

I'm not a "Windows" man, but could it be that the MBR is actually knackered?

NTLDR Missing Latest

MBR is corrupted.

I have latest Windows 10 home on Toshiba Satellite P855-32G

Latest option I tried is Diskpart but cannot convert Disk 0 is shows back from GPT to MBR

I have Easeus Partition Master and made it a bootable USB and

Converted Disk from GPT to MBR but now will not read Windows install Disk

the 500gb Save partition I created, it is this one I need to retrieve which I can see in Mini tool recovery but as it is 329gb of shipping files I

have nothing that big to save them to. Of course final solution maybe a new external hard drive but would PC recognize it in its present state ?

As a last resort you could remove your hard drive from your computer and put it in a docking station and connect it to another computer, then you should be able to read and remove the files that you want to save and put them on another hard drive...........

ntldr missing fix

Well what a saga Guys.

Remade Easeus bootable USB, eventually able to rebuild MBR. Remove and put in Windows USB,

Windows cannot install on MBR partitition, GRRR

Back into Easeus, change back to GPT partition, rebuild MBR, make primary, make Active

Check all in Diskpart to make sure, remove Easeus USB, restart with windows USB,

Result windows installed on GPT partition with Save D: section all okay with 109gb of shipping folders.

Have to install Photoshop next as I use it to reduce size of images to below 500kb for posting.

Will get external drive in next few days weather permitting, still wet and windy here.

Many thanks for all the ideas guys.

I'm too late to the party again, but I want to recommend this wonderful tool. It has saved many computers, it's Linux based but it can fix the problems you mention and it's Menu based.

Rescatux.

Just make a USB stick of it and keep that stick. I've restored the MBR of Windows, I've undeleted partitions accidentally deleted both ext4 and NTFS (Windows), reinstalled GRUB loader, fixed Windows loader, and I have fixed nearly everything, I do remember for one problem I had to buy a new drive and copy files then reformat but I don't know what happened to it, but that was one time of the 200 times I have used this tool. It's excellent. I take this when I fix computers! (Or I take SARDU PRO).

Basically it's fixed everything I have ever encountered.

Best wishes,
