Professor Heinz Wolff.

A familiar face on BBC TV science programs, presenter of the Great Egg Race, and model railway enthusiast, died today aged 89.

Sigh another good one of my favourites away.

Owner of easily the most outrageous German accents to grace the screen
Purveyor of science and supporter of dangerous science in the classroom (so you maybe lose a few pupils but look how much more exciting it is than safe science)

I think he did play the 'mad scientist' card, but did it in a way that made his lectures even more entertaining.

Yes, a kindly avuncular figure who probably went through life thinking "How lucky am I."
Yet another part of our life gone.

Sorry, never heard of him ... one man's mad scientist, another man's tin of beans. RIP anyway.

What a shame. I hope he ended his passage as comfortably as possible. Haven't seen him present for a long time but watched the Egg Race whenever I could.

That's a real shame. I always enjoyed his programs, in particular "The Great Egg Race"
Still, he had a very good innings. RIP
