Thanks for drawing this to our attention....

I am trying to buy it directly from Mr Taylor and hope to succeed. It would be a sentimental replacement for the one I sold ( for 25!) a long time ago.

I have three sextants, my first "3 circle mates'". A Plath. and a Tamaya.
All used in anger and much loved.

What happened to H.J.T.? We never come across him on the forum. I sailed with him as mate and found him a bloody good shipmaster.

Capt. Taylor has 'crossed the bar' according to his son Ian. Seems he joined the Bank Line in the 60's and was made Master after one trip as Mate. Stayed until the 80's.

Another HJT? I think he was ex Sugar Line, Zim, East African National Line before Bank Line. I was with him in Teviotbank in 1974, and later in Forthbank in 1978 on the Bank n Savill run. We got along fine, others found him a trifle overbearing. Ships and long splices, perchance?

Sailed with HJT on the Clover in 1978/9 when I was 3/mate, big guy, but didn't like me wearing desert boots (remember them?)
