I wasn't brought into the world till 48 but still hear stories of the Malakand. Do you remember a chief called Andrew McKey who lived in Birkenhead ? He has long since passed away but introduced me to Brocks as a app engineer in the mid 60's, If my memory serves me right he showed me round the Maskeylia in Birkenhead while I was still at school.

The Danish vessel Tasmania (Damscabelscabet line....spelling) was handled by Brocklebanks during the war.
My first trip to sea round Capetown and down to India. We were torpedoed close to the Azores on our way back to UK. Happy vessel with mostly Danish officers and a polygot mixture of crew from all the occupied european countries.
A Happy ship

Chas
