Doris Day

Has past away at 97. Fondly remember her films with Rock Hudson and Tony Randle.
Had a great singing voice as well.
RIP

I thought she was wonderful. fell in love with her when I saw her as Calamity Jane. She had a golden voice, a warm and bubbly personality and a beautiful smile.
Some years ago my wife was visiting her parents in California, and got chatting to a woman in a supermarket in Carmel, who was carrying a chihuahua. They chatted about dogs, the best brand of dog food, and other doggy stuff. It turned out to be Doris Day. A very friendly and unassuming person according to Mrs K.

RIP Doris.

A great entertainer, with a wide appeal. An old friend, who was a fan, named his trawler after her famous hit song, as noted in the above posts, (but he spelt it Che Sara Sara.) I remember hearing her records played frequently on the BBC Light program, before it became Radio One and Radio Two. Haven't heard her for some time, but I expect that will change over the next few days.

I was always a great fan.

I met my wife when I was 19 and she was 16. She looked quite a bit like Doris Day !

One of the great stars if not the greatest, she was a favourite in our family even with my sisters. I am sure she got a great welcome in Heaven.

Never mind John , what your dear wife can't sing you can make up for it with your rich baritone welsh voice that most Taff seem to have.

A couple of her songs still come to mind.
'Secret love' and 'Move over darling'
Secret love reached top of the charts in 1954.
