Mini Line Ships

I was wondering if anyone on this site have sailed on the greek owned Mini Ships, e.g. Mini Lorry, Mini Lens, etc. I'd love to here a bit about how it was to sail on those little guys. I saw many of them going up and down the Mississippi river in the 70's. thanks.

There was a Mini Lory, but no Mini Lorry. These ships were featured in three editions of "Coastal Shipping" magazine during 2010.

They were standard coasters built by IHI. If I remember rightly there was a minimum order, like 4. More like barges with a "gemini" crane. They couldn't have been much fun to sail on.

I saw loads of them in and around Chittagong in the mid/late 1970's.

I used to work in the Mini Lido and Mini Libra, years 74 to 76,these ships belong to Ceres Shipping Company of Greece owned by the Livanos family, many of these ships sailed the Mississippi river,We sailed with the Mini Lido from Punta Arenas ,Chile to New Orleans,Caribbean Sea and later to Europe, small ships, but very reliable, total crew including the captain were 10..
Best Regards.
