A friend here informs me his grandfather Captain B K Berry was with Royal Mail Lines and ended RM commodore and captain of RMS Andes.
Anyone on SN sailed with Capt Berry?
In reply to your post enquiring of Captain Berry.
He retired to South Wexford for some time and lived in a small cottage just North of Wexford. A million miles away from the Andes, that he spoke of from time to time.
My father (also a ship's Master, In "ISL") used to meet up with him at least twice a week for a coffee and chat in Wexford town. They enjoyed each others company.
This could have been approximately 1964-1970 if my memory serves me well.
We visited his house on occasion, he lived alone and had a cat or two for company.
Always a gentleman, quite spry and fit, always well dressed and a good conversationalist / observer.
Your post is a "blast from the past". - I would have been 10-16 years old at the time.
I have a photograph of a Royal Mail Master on board a ship at Tilbury, who I believe is Captain B K Berry. Would anyone be able to confirm that it actually is Captain Berry? Can forward if recognition is possible.

Good Day Graham.
I knew Capt Berry just after he retired - I was a teenager at the time in the late '60's and lived near him.
He met with my own father regularly for coffee.
If you would care to forward the photo I can take a look. michaelpoole1@eircom.net
