Hello from ex BP Mariner

Hello,

I joined BP Tankers in 1964 before leaving the sea in 1981 to become a berthing master at the Sullom Voe Terminal. I then, with others, established the BP Oil Spill Response Base in Southampton UK and responded to a number of major oil spill incidents. I Led a team of specialists to Alaska to assist Exxon during the Exxon Valdez incident before returning to the UK and moved to Head Office to set up the BP Group Crisis Managment Programme. In 1992 I moved to Singapore to establish East Asia Response Limited where I was CEO until 1997. I returned to BP and retired in 2001. I am now a self employed consultant on crisis management and emergency response with a love for anything maritime.

Hi Brent,

Welcome to you.

Can you put some dates to your BP ships and I'll see if you sailed with my old man - Gareth Roberts.

Cheers.

Rushie.

I knew Bob Simpson very well. I believed he left Sullom Voe to go to BP at Hull as Marine Manager. I also knew David Pepper who would you believe worked with David Salt at the oil spill base at Sullom Voe. Also knew Stuart Mycroft. I guess its a small world. What are you doing now.

Hi Brent,

is your Bob Simpson the small but jovial gentleman from the West Country by any chance? Would he have been 2M around 67-70?
