ellerman & wilson Line

I would like to hear from any seaman who might have known my father his name was Joe Rudd who sailed on the Ellerman & Wilson ships. The ships he sailed on were the Juno, Malmo and Angelo. I am not to sure how long he sailed for but I do know it was in the 1940's - 1960's. I would like to hear from anyone who remembers him. Joe lived in Sculcoates Lane and then on North Hull Estate.

Welcome aboard, Christine.
I think the proper title of the company is Ellerman's Wilson Line. Dating from when Ellerman took over Wilson Line of Hull.
There are plenty of Wilson Line lads in the crew so let's hope some remember your father.
I only sailed on the Rialto so his name is not familiar.
Find your way around the ship and enjoy the voyage.

Hi Christine
Is this your Dad?
R185710 Rudd J 31/08/1920 Hull
If it is, there is a seamans pouch for him at the National Archives. A pouch can be a hit or miss, but can contain a mug shot, next of kin etc.
http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/c...accessmethod=0

His service record (CRS 10 form) should be here, this will tell you what ships he sailed on and when he joined and paid off wages etc.
http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/c...F=BT382%2F2866

If you can visit Kew then you can access the documents for free. If not you can order them on line.
Request This, Digital Express, Jpeg, Gold Service. Will send them to your PC.
Or request an estimate (paper) but that can take up to two weeks.
For the pouch ask for: The seamans pouch for R185710 Rudd J 31/08/1920 Hull
For the service records ask for: The CRS 10 form for R185710 Rudd J 31/08/1920 Hull. This is a no find no pay basis.
