This will be a great shame if the sale goes ahead and Belfast loses its last WWI survivor...

It shouldn't up to the Royal Navy to preserve Historic Ships in my book. They have enough to do without funding old ships.

i read the original cost was estimated @4 mill. - final cost £14,000,000.
someone, somewhere, had a few spare shackles stashed away - and, considering, those were the days of serious belt tighening.
