DM 70 years on

My father came home from WW2 on DM, arriving 1 October to marry 10 October 1945. He left for England on Rangitane in Nov 1940, but it was scuttled after it was torpedoed 300 miles off Gisborne. So he went most of the way to England on the deck of a German ship, but there was 4 more years as POW before he reached England. Round the Horn as POW - fortunately in summer - Panama was not an option for a prison ship.
I "toured" DM with a school trip as a child, in Wellington

By DM do you mean Dominion Monarch?
Welcome to this great site, hope you enjoy it.
Your fathers journey sounds fascinating, can you tell us a bit more about his exploits?

Don
