BP Teddy Bear

On the Antiques Roadshow yesterday a small teddy bear appeared, small wearing a crown and sporting a rather stylish yellow and green cord which was closed by a lead seal with the BP logo stamped upon it.He had been found during the 50`s in a sealed kilner jar on a beach in Kent, also in the jar was a note sadly the writing had faded and become illegible.
AW and the owner had contacted BP and found out that they had never done a bear based promotion and I wondered if with the sea connection it could have been a shipboard item, anyone recall any like this?

A Teddy in a bottle! I expect the note said: "Please look after this bear."

Didn't see the show but my thoughts are that it was a variant on the "Message in a Bottle" theme, set adrift from a BP vessel, the seal being a sample custody seal.
