Skye Sierra

Good evening.

I posted last night on the death of Skye Sierra, otherwise known as Roger Baillie, who passed away very recently, but can't find the post anywhere.

Roger was our Second Mate on Cast Heron in 1983, and then for about 25 years was Sector Officer for HMCG in Portree.

A convivial shipmate and effective Coast Guard Officer.

Sad news indeed, last time we met we discussed the pros and cons of retirement, I already had and Roger was thinking about it, he will certainly be missed here in Barra.

Very sad to read this , a true gentleman, I sailed with Roger in 77 on the Troll Park when he was third mate and I was second mate . He lent me his hire car from a drydock in shields so I could take my wife and baby daughter home as we were sailing next morning , it broke down on the M6 .
My condolences to his wife and family

mike
