excel

Ok folks - anyone got any ideas for this.

I have two columns of numbers, both columns have the same numbers in them in the same order BUT the difference is that the spaces between the numbers are all different.

Now if my master column is 'Column A' and I paste column 'B' next to it is there anything I can do to column B to make the numbers line up with Column A apart from doing it manually. I'll try and post an example below

Column A Column B
1
2
...................1

3

4
5..................2

....................3
6.
7.
8.............. ...4
9

....................5etc.

try selecting the rows, then go to data at the top of the screen and select "Sort". In the sort screen you can now sort by Column A, then Cloumn B, ect

Thanks - sorry should have said, but I need to keep the spaces as they are in Column A, otherwise yes that would work

AH, Then you will have to create an INDEX Column.
Select column A, the go to EDIT and seclect FILL, on the side menu select SERIES. In the series menu enter 1 as the step value. Then sort using the index column

Sorry steve - its gone all wonky again. When I use sort the numbers in column A all come together and I lose the spacing.
