Queen mum

Hello everyone. Is it true that the QUEEN MARY was painted
only at the starboard side ,because queen mum wanted to see her
once before she was sold ?( the ship not queen mum ). Or was it
the QUEEN ELIZABETH.Or is the whole story a legend ?
Best wishes Thomas

Possible an element of truth in it. The dockside side of ships were often painted or touched up, as that side was more easily reached without the use of so much staging.
Good advice is usually ignored, but that's no reason for not giving it. Miss Marple.

6th November 1966 Queen Elizabeth made a visit to the ship at Southampton just before taking the ship away for her last passenger cruise. It is said the ship was 'cleaned and polished' just before the visit.
