In reply to above# ESE not 100% sure but guess it's Electronic/electrical Systems Engineer. STCW Standards for Training and Certification for Watchkeepers. This is supposed to align all tickets irrespectvie of country of origin, eg a British ticket is equivalent to one issued in Kazakstan, hence the multitude of different nationalities serving on a ship.

Thanks for the information Gordon.

As for aligning all tickets irrespective of country, this of course assumes that each country has an exam system which is all above board, it is common knowledge that an HGV licence is available for about 500 in a certain southern european country, no doubt the same scam is available for other tickets.
The greatest cross I have to bear is the cross of Lorraine.
