Put a name to the face.

BP staff conference thingy, I believe at Warsash, there are at least two SN contributors in the picture.

Correction, I think they called it a management course. LOL.

2G,

BP Staff conference, are you sure??, looks more like day release from one of the local HM Pleasure Palaces (Soton?, Portsmouth?). The guy on the end looks extremely dodgy, which end may you ask.

A couple of the really nicely dressed gentlemen must be supervisory wardens.

My god I realise I even know a few of 'em, tho never met them face to face.

June 1985, was that just before one of the blood lettings?

Graham

I recognise Joe Pyne, and I think the lad far left front row might be Ian Fyfe?

Gary Hallet back row second from right?

The three kneeling at the front right I sort of recognise especially the guy second from right - annoying me that.... Edit - oh hang on - Is it Fenderbelly himself?

Technical Tony Smith is back second from left in the tank top - Joe Pyne is in the middle (of course) wearing a body warmer

Ah, Tony Smith, was out in Brunei with him and sailed with him on a proper ship but could not recall the name. By Technical do you mean he was working in the office?

With you being post 86 I am surprised you recognise so many, what % do you reckon did a runner when given the chance in 86?

5th from left Alan Brown, Chief Steward from Beverley. He's a site member, but not heard from him for a while. Sure I sailed with the guy 4th from left, he was J/E at the time we used to joke he was the oldest Junior in the fleet.

I would really like to know which one is which here, I have a copy of the photo with all names and rank mentioned , but not their locations in the picture. I know many of the names and have been in contact with them but have never met any in person, would like to know who is who.

This is 2G's thread so I'll let him run it. However for my interest I have numbered them, 23 faces but only 20 Seafarers ,three would be Warsash tutors?

Back row 1-6
Middle row 7-14
Front row 15-23

Graham

Can remember doing a tanker safety course at Warsash but thinking back I thought the staff conferences were held somewhere in Kent or thereabouts.

Dave, this picture is definitly of a Management training course at Warsash, the same pic is in June 1985 Fleet News, of which I have a copy.

2G might have an original B&W photo.

Ok having had closer look and bearing in mind it was a few years before I met these guys.

Definites:
Tony Smith - second from left back
Pete Seaman - second from left front
Joe Pyne - centre back with body warmer
Paul Hebden - second from right front
Chris d'Alquin - third from right front

Possibles
Ian Oliphant - back far right
Either Paul Boss or Garry Hallet next to him - I realise that is an odd couple to mix up
Alan Stayler (sp?) - with beard to the left of Joe Pyne
Just behind Joes left shoulder - I keep thinking Danny Currivan for some reason - but not sure why.
Same applies to the the lad kneeling in the centre with the pencil moustache - he reminds me of Steve Alibone - but the face is the wrong shape.
The lad kneeling front far right - annoying me that one - feel like I should know him but can't place him.

As for the rest - not ringing any bells

Correct Graham it was a management course, I had corrected my original post, and I do have the original picture, found it in with a load over other stuff recently.

Thanks for giving the year, we had been trying to work it out, 85, a year before the "Night of the long knives".

Interesting to see all the names coming out.
