SS Central America
"Ship of Gold in the deep blue sea" by Gary Kinder.
My copy was published by Acabus, in 1998 and is about the US registered SS Central America in 1857. Non-fiction, it is the story of how she sank and, 130 years later, how she was searched for, found and her cargo of Gold Rush treasure brought up. She was the first deep sea ship to be exploited in this way and her cargo was worth hundreds of millions of US dollars. I am finding it to be a fascinating read. |
