![]() A plaque in Giggleswick parish church tells of the death of Robert HARTLEY who fell to his death from the mast of the "Queen of the Seas" in 1865. No further information on the plaque.
It would be very interesting to find an image of this ship & any other details. Can anyone help?! |

Hello,
There were two British registered vessels with the name QUEEN OF THE SEAS around in 1865. One registered in Liverpool, official number 26385. The other in Hong Kong O/N 41285. There were several others with the name QUEEN OF THE SEA There should be details in the Deaths at Registers available from the Pay to view site Find my Past. That said you may only get a simple form of the reasons for his demise. IE "Fell from Mast". Search FMP first if only to find the correct vessel. If it's No Go. The vessels Logbook may give a fuller explanation. Available from NMM Greenwich. https://www.rmg.co.uk/national-marit...s-request-form regards Roger
