Cooked up by publicist Max Clifford and swallowed hook line and sinker by the execrable Sun, it did Starr's career no harm at all.

His demonstration of a boxing match was one of my favourites, Freddie wearing oversize shorts, huge gloves and boots with the laces undone. There was only him in the ring, taking imaginary blows to his body and head. Hilarious.

He also had a decent singing voice.

He was hilarious but got hammered by the Me Too movement or something similar - exonerated in the end I believe.

Just read that he had "Return to Sender" written on the side of his coffin.

Freddie at his best and the Jordanaires (Elvis backing group of long standing) were visibly impressed. This was played at his funeral.
