Smile Headlams of Whitby

I hear that the property of Headlams the late ship owner will be turned into the first 5 Star hotel in North Yorkshire Nice One.

Sandsend

I understand that work on the hotel should be completed soon.

I have just posted two pictures of the Sandsend from 1930 in the Marine art section, if anyone is interested.

Greetings,

Probably belongs in the Company nickname thread but I always heard them referred to as "The Blue Cross Boats" or "Hoodlums of Whitby".

I think the hotel will be open very soon now. The old house 'Raithwaite Hall has been incorparated into the new building but you need to look for it. I often walk that way when out and about rambling.

Headlams did provide a very smart Trophy for one of the Offshore Powerboat Race's which were running out of Whitby. The late great Roger Clark was very keen to get his hand's on it.

Recently stayed at the hotel and if that's the standards they had I can see no reason for complaint.

Nice place if you fancy some indulgence, and the feeding rate ain't bad either.
