That was my party piece on Fort Yale with P*sspot Triscott the Lecky. But for me there is only one version and that is by Petula Clark. Oooh that voice still gets to me. Second only to Judith Durham from the Seekers.

#3 . Saw her live a few months back, Bill. Amongst her other hits, she sang "Sailor", but she was mainly trying to flog a new CD which I thought was crap. She still looks quite good - she's over 80 now. Apparently she has some strange living arrangement with her husband and her toy boy.

Lolita sang it best of all, in its original version. Seeing a guy sing it...............well, how about "Hello sailor" in a throaty voice?

Nice, very nice. Her 1960s Downtown is the only song I recall hearing, from Petula Clark. I must modify my previous remarks now that I have heard her rendition of Sailor. The US Navy likes it too.
