Jean's passing

Greetings,
Just thought I would mention on the forum about my wife of almost 45 years recent passing. After a year-long battle with pancreatic cancer, Jean sadly passed away on November 20th, she will be much missed by many.

You may say 'why post here' on the Shaw Savill section, well she was one of us (briefly), Jean sailed on the Darro to South America in 1974, a trip she enjoyed greatly and remembered fondly. Jean was a very friendly person and she made many 'Board of Trade' acquaintances on board including Bob Boothroyd, Ian Webb, Steve Rance and Davie Graham to name a few (mainly because I can't remember the others names now!!)

I have attached a picture taken off Rio during that trip showing some of those named, (Jean and I are on the left at the back)

Regards
Jim Holmes

Greetings to al
Many thanks to all on the forum who expressed their condolences on Jean’s passing.
Ian, Bob was indeed a memorable character as were many in that photo, Ian Webb on Bob’s left was another, Jean and I spoke of them often with much happiness.
All best wishes for a good New Year.
Jim Holmes

Jim, we have never met. My wife died Christmas Eve 2013. Amazing the memories this site brings back. Enjoy them. I have just been diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia so I guess I will be joining her soon.

I'm sorry to read of your bad news, Fergie. Maybe that explains the bleeding episodes you had in December. I hope you will receive the best of care and support from everyone.

Jim as many of our brethren say whatever the pain always remember the love and joy you shared together.I lost my dearest Margaret way back in 1966 after just seven years of happiness together,we also lost our newborn son but the love I had with her I have treasured and tho I have travelled many journeys and have found a new love for the last thirty years I still cherish her love and memories.

Very sorry to hear the sad new about Jeans passing.
Apologies for the late reply but not logged onto this site for months. I remember Jean well as I was on the Darro for a short while, That's me with the camera around my neck.

Thanks for your thoughts Steve, we remembered you and your videos well, they were good to look back on, and brought back so many memories over the years.
Do you have any more images from that trip?
