The trawl net.

I visited a lifeboat station in the North Sea coast last year. Can't be any more specific. The stations mechanic had said his dad, who was still alive, had sailed with Port Line, post war. He said the crowd, many of whom, were from British fishing ports, had made their own fishing net, to be towed behind this majestic post war Port Line ship. However, this operation had to have the compliance of the skipper and the chief Engineer! They used to get a good catch of fish. However, if the net had become entangled with the screw/s the whole crew would have been sacked. As my family were seafarers from North Wales, dad being a chief engineer. I can believe the story. Anybody throw light on This ?
