SS Devon

Rae Croft researching my family genealogy for the Goodall family onboard SS Devon out of Plymouth Nov 21 1879, destination Adelaide, Australia. Trying to locate DOB for two children, George Henry and his brother William Ebeneezer onboard the vessel.

Hi - I have researched my Family Tree (s) through Ancestry but find that they are sometimes too big to narrow a search down.
As a matter of interest I typed 'Goodall - SS Devon 1879' in Google and it brought up My Heritage - with a picture of SS Devon braving a stormy sea in 1879 and a site Manager of Rae Croft who runs the Goodall web site .....might be worth pursuing as you will know if names are relevant or not.
Good luck with the search - it is time consuming but well worth doing.......I am back to 1569 but, alas no rich relatives are ever going to claim me :-)

Oops - just saw you are the same person! Oh well at least I promoted your good work.....I wish you every success.......but the Goodalls appear to have travelled far and wide..............now off to hide my blushes and learn to look before I leap

Hi Sandie, thanks for the info, it does help to clarify that I have the year dates correct, have found all the birth dates except for George, who is my grandfather. Appreciate the confirmation of the years though. Regards Rae Croft

Rae, it is never a good idea to publish your email address in a public forum. I strongly suggest that you communicate with kellieryb initially using private messages, where you can swap email addresses without anyone else being able to see them. You should edit your post to remove your address, or I can do it for you if you are unsure how to.

Sorry thought it would be ok to put email address as members only. Remove it if you wish, I am not sure how to do that so shall leave it up to you. Also unsure how to get in touch with Kellieryb through private messaging, as don't have any other way to contact them apart from through this site. Any suggestions appreciated, thanks

Rae, I have deleted your email address. Among the general forum rules published by admin is the rule "Do not include clickable e-mail addresses or phone numbers in your posts. If you need to include an e-mail address, please type it as example 'at' example.com, or better still communicate such information by Private Message."

The reason for this is that SN is a very public site with thousands of members all over the world and easily accessible by anyone who takes the few seconds it takes to join. By publishing your email address you could increase your chances of being spammed or worse.

Pleased to see that you worked out how to send PMs. Well done!
