Greetings from a Norwegian newbie

Good morning fellow maritime enthusiasts,
I'm happy to be in good company!

I just accidentally found this community and, hopefully, it proves to be what I hope it is. If so, I'll be more than happy.

Myself, I'm a young middle-aged maritime history enthusiast, living in Grimstad on the south-east coast of Norway. My interest in shipping and ship building history is considered well above average locally, so I'm also freelancing as a historical guide (or storyteller) at our regional maritime museum.

Since I'm also a practising writer/photographer, my main interests would be old ship and shipping related photos as well as the good stories from the old days. And out of pure curiosity, as well as being a trained journalist, I tend to ask questions and hope for serious answers. I hope you don't mind!

On the other hand, if anyone needs some contribution from these parts of the world, I'd be happy to help if I can.

Best regards for now,
Frode

Thanks, Frank!
Also for explaining the basics for me (English is not my primary language).
By the way, I forgot to say, I do have a one day experience as a rookie on an iron ore barge on the Zuari river in Goa (material for a good story).

To me that's more than "a few", Frank.
Too bad most of them are history now.

I hope nobody is offended. I thought it would be fun testing a translator.

Thanks, canadian!
Nice try, no problem understanding the meaning of the first line above, and I appreciate the attempt. It's easy these days , isn't it. We don't even have to learn foreign languages as long as "Google is our friend".
