Livorno

I was a Cadet on the Ellermans Wilson line "Livorno" from 1957 for 1 year then on Rialto for one year, Rollo for 1 trip then back to Livorno for a year, has anyone got a photo of the "Livorno" I have tried everywhere with no joy, after that I spent 10 years with the United Towing Co of Hull finishing my seagoing career as Mate of the Tug Englishman working the rigs in the North Sea, The late Captain Norman Storey later awarded the MBE in command, a great Man and first Class Skipper, cheers Terry

Terry, Welcome Onboard.
I think you will enjoy the time spent here.
Lots of information and camaraderie. Simply a good place to spend some time and perhaps find old shipmates.

I think this will be the 'Livorno' you're looking for":

A warm welcome to the site from the Isle of Anglesey, I guarantee you will thoroughly enjoy the SN experience!
You will certainly spark many happy memories when you have a chance to explore our threads and, who knows, you may even re-establish contact with old shipmates.
Good luck!

Hello Terry
I served as 6th/5th Engineer on Rialto from June 1958 to Dec.1958
Masters name was H.Greenhill.Voyages were, Hull ,Teeside ,Aberdeen ,Quebec and Montreal.
I have a photo of Rialto and can send copy by e-mail if you wish.
A few of us got told off in Montreal docks for putting shillings in the Coke machine on the wharfside. Hot summers in Montreal and very cold winters.
Police walked down St Catherines 4 abreast,no room for seaman so took the low road.
Then away for Christmas on Carlo. Later Leo and Tasso as 4th/3rd Eng.

Best Regards

Dave
