Just A Minute... Nicholas Parsons

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-51278023

Cracking host of "Just A Minute" amongst other things.
No doubt he went without deviation, hesitation or repetition.

Parsons still did the feeds for the panellists on Just a Minute. Its hard to think of the show without him he will be missed around the world where it was broadcast.

Back in the day he played the "posh bloke" feed for many of the big comics. I always remember him with Arthur Haynes who was quite a gifted comic but who died in 1966 at a comparatively young age.

RIP Good Sir.

Being able to control Mr Merton and co in 'Just a Minute' whilst being well into your 90's is an incredible achievement! Amazing man.

Just been reading his obituary on the Beeb Website. As a youth he joined a shipbuilding company on the Clyde to train as an engineer and developed his wit, jokes and impressions to win over his work colleagues who regarded his English accent as'Posh'. The article says that illness prevented hi taking up an offer to go to sea in theMerchant Navy during the War. I'm sure he would have been a very entertaining shipmate. I'll miss him on 'just a minute' on Radio 4 as I make the Dinner on a Sunday.

A great innings and not a bad age either. The latter does not prevent him being missed. I wonder if 'Just a minute' will be buried/burned with him? Only a day or so ago I watched Murder Ahoy in which he played a youthful medic, a radio host was far from being his only talent.

A loss to Marine Engineering but fortunately a great gain to the English speaking world.
He sometimes mentioned that students throughout the world listened in to Just a Minute to improve their English.
A very good innings Nicholas.RIP.

He was an excellent straight man to the comedian Arthur Haines. Their TV show was very popular back in the 1950s/60s.
The sketches were written by Johnny Speight who also wrote 'Till Death Us Do Part' the platform for the obnoxious Alf Garnett.

Nicholas Parsons

He certainly was a snappy dresser and a perfect gentleman.
Host of 'Take it from Here and later the gameshow 'Sale of the
Century' , also appeared in many films.
I regularly watched the Arthur Haynes Show on Saturday nights.
He always appeared as the stooge or fall guy, so funny.

RIP Nicholas

An amazingly long and successful career for a fellow who appears to have been well liked by his peers. It's a little ironic that somebody named Parsons was hoping to be a marine engineer, but found greater fame in the relatively new world of radio and television entertainment.

Thanks for all the fun, and genuine laughs.

R.I.P.
