Charles Edward Forman
I recently met a daughter of the above and during our conversation I mentioned that I had been in the Merchant Navy when I was younger and she asked if I had sailed with Port Line.
I told her that I hadn't, but I had worked on a number of their ships when I was an apprentice at Falmouth Docks in the 1960's. She told me that her father had sailed with them for about 40 years and had risen to Chief Engineer. She also told me that, although he had never spoken about his time as sea, after he died they had found among his papers one stating that he had been Mentioned in Dispatches for his actions when one of the ships he was on had been attacked.
She is severely disabled and also does not know how to use a computer so I offered to try to find out at least some details of her father's career at sea for her. I am trying here first as this is Port Line specific and if I don't get any replies I will also try the looking for old shipmates forum.
I know she would be very grateful for any informations she has virtually no knowledge of her father's career.
