Good to see a mention of Rawdon; I spent part of my childhood just down the road in Yeadon. It was the rowing boats on Yeadon Dam that initially gave me the urge to go to sea, many years ago!

I remember a JOhn Wormersley on Canada Crescent who's dad worked in Lawson's garage at Rawdon Lights opposite Crowtrees. Any Relation? I wonder.
I think John had a sister and was about 5 in the Mid 50's, and went to the National rather than Littlemoor? Here I may be talking rubbish.

Purdie, foster and shaw were the Docs at Menston/Guisley, or Sharples at Yeadon.

Very interesting, spent many happy hours at the dam, and celtic football ground, and at the feasts in albert square.
Little moor, rawdon national, little london, south view and guisley national were the eariler schools and the lateter ones were Salts, pudsey, Airborough, Ilkley, Prince henry's and the private one at Burley in Wharfdale, and the Tech at Harrogate or the harrogate art school at 13+ Memories: Then there was scouts and guides 16 Yeadon with the 10th at henshaw, the 17th at Rawdon, and the 14/15th at st oswalds, and the annual airedale scouts swim gala at armley. Great.

Lots of similarities: South View, then Woodhouse Grove, Cubs and Scouts with 16th Airedale. Happy memories of Yeadon Feast (what have they done to Albert square!). I lived in High Street, Yeadon right across from the Dam which was my second home. Moved away in the mid 50's to Pudsey and eventually ended up at Warsash before going to sea with South American Saint Line and then Cunard.

Dad was always very committed to obstetrics, we had Ante and Post natal clinics in the house, which was built with a Surgery, waiting room and Dispensary.

I remember him telling me one of his happiest days was when he delivered a child from a woman he had delivered as a child. He liked people, and I have always felt very proud of him.

Great, I was in the 10th. and new a few in the 16th. The scout master took us for our TRacking Badge?-Back woodsman? up on chevin road ( I forget his name(Peel?). I new the brown brothers Robin, donald, and the elder boy-name escapes me and the sister Doreen? Originally in our younger days we were near neighbours and then they moved to the new estate. At woodhouse grove you may have known Peter Gooder, Bruce teal also from Rawdon. I apologise for not mentioning Woodhouse Grove, which was the first and upper cut of student Maybe 1 or 2 a year only from Littlemoor. Regards

You have rung a bell? did you know a Martin***? Name sailed as 2/e from Crosby/liverpool area on the QE2 as a steam man and or after her conversion to diesel. Martin and I have very loose family connections from the Crosby Area.

Small world eh Howard?... My mother Betty was the Ladylady of the Stone Trough pub throughout the seventies..she also had the Woolpack for while. My brother served his time at Farrer's engineers, Rawdon High St. My mate worked at Riggs butchers Rawdon, (Uncle of Avengers Diana Rigg) I met my wife in the sixties in the Peacock pub (since demolished) watching Peter Wallace & the Wallace family perform.. My mate (now) has the West End Farm Rawdon, (just after the bad Z bend towards Horsforth, I was there this morning after dropping my daughter off for her flight to Belfast at "Yeadon Airport" (now Leeds & Bradford) and walking my little Yorkie all the way around Yeadon Dam (nearly knackered me).. My mates all drink in the Emmotts Arms Rawdon or the Albert at Yeadon.. (the New Inn is Ok too, round the corner).. I sailed on South American Saint Line back in 1964, (St Essylt) and I've been working F'Cunard all my life.. 'Similarities' is right David Freeman, Howard, Farmer John & Sinbad of Rawdon.

Sorry, no, my passenger ship days were spent on Sylvania and Carinthia and then in the ACL ships before transferring to Offshore Marine - the Supply Vessel subsidiary of Cunard.

Hi Sinbad,
I sailed as Chief Mate on Sydney Breeze with Roger & Takako from February to August 1966. Last spoke to him by VHF in about April '86
when he was visiting a ship off Chitagong & my ship was anchored there.
He was a great bloke & I wonder what happened to him.
Cheers,
Peter

He went on to be involved in Loss Adjusting.

Hi Sinbad,

I knew your Dad very well as I sailed with him as a cadet on the Suva Breeze where he was Chief Officer from 1963 to April 1974 . I think you will find you second entry for Sunda Breeze in error as it should be M.V. Suva Breeze from
2877 1700 Suez 5/6/1962 HK 7/4/1963 Chief Officer. He left us in Hong Kong where he departed for Japan to marry Takako Maruyama and then was promoted to Master on the San Mayon, I was promoted to Third Mate at the same time.
We since made contact in about 2001 or 2002. He sent me a very long 3 page email outlining his career through many Manners vessels to then become a Loss Adjuster. I put another cadet of that time, Paul Manton in touch with him and he visited your Dad some time later in Thailand. I have had many attempts to contact him in the last number of years but all my emails have been bounced back to me so I then feared the worst but sincerely hope that I am wrong. I would love to make contact with you ao here hoping. Best regards Arthur Ryan, Ireland
