Sad day indeed.
Listened to Ed Punchard on Radio Scotland yesterday, he was a survivor who wrote a good book about the disaster. He wants to set up 167 bursary places for college/university places each one named for one of those who perished.
As an ex Piper Alpha hand I think its a wonderful idea.
Ed's book Piper Alpha A Survivor's Story is a good account of the days events.

May their souls be at peace and my condolences to the bereaved and to the survivors who survived this tragedy.

I was at the Piper Alpha disaster 20 years ago, we was 20 miles away in a fishing boat when the first Mayday was put out, we went to their aid as anyone else would do, by the time we got their any survivors was picked up, but we still searched through the night hoping to get someone, I'm sorry for the next of kin who have only memories to have and cherish, lessons have to be learned from this, I know for a fact oil companies are burying incidents/accidents on oilrigs, so it does not show face, until another Piper Alpha happens, Money talks, it should be SAFETY talks
