Any old shipmates out there?

Hi I am Ray Ferrie, retired harbour Pilot from Sullom Voe. I served with the Lyle Shipping Co, Denholms, canadian Pacific, Ocean Weatherships, and P & O Ferries (Orkney & Shetland). Are there any old shipmates out there?

Smile Welcome

Ray,

A warm welcome to the site from Anglesey - I guarantee you will thoroughly enjoy the SN experience!
You will certainly spark many happy memories when you have a chance to explore our threads and, who knows, you may even re-establish contact with old shipmates.
Good luck!

A warm welcome from me as well , Ray.
Did you ever come across Stewart Pottinger. Heard he went to Sullom Voe.
He was 3rd.mate on the Jersey Bridge when I was 2nd.mate in 1970.

Welcome to the site Ray. You have come the the correct place to catch up with all those old "Board of Trade" acquaintances. Wouldn't be surprised if you hadn't already had a private message.

You obviously are slightly older than me. I joined the first Cape Howe in 1960 and left her to be scrapped in Osaka Japan in 1961. Lyles was just a bit to down-market for me so I went to Denholms in 1962, sailed on the Duncraid, Clarkavon, Port Campbell, Dunadd, and Scotstoun.

Hi Mike
Yes I am still in sunny Aith (the snow showers are filling my lugs today though) I know young Errol or at least his father and his grandfather quite well. Have I met you before.....I can't figure you out through your "handle".... you are maybe well known to me for all that!
Still feeling my way around this website and making one or two boobs on the way. Thanks for the contact Mike
regards
Ray
