Hi just a bit of useless information, as a young guy in Dunedin NZ probably about mid 40's I remember seeing the 'Maplebank' along side.

The Bank Line "Liberties" were purchased after the war in the late 40's, and the Maplebank was one of them. (ex Samwash).

I was on her in Dunedin 53 and 54 with the discharge of phosphate rock from Nauru and Ocean Island. My recollections of one Dunedin visit was chipping over the side on stages in icy, freezing, weather!

Bank Line House magazine articles

I have reproduced a few (hopefully!) interesting profiles of the old Masters in Bankline - taken from the house magazines. It includes Capt. Scobie's account . ( Chief Super and Director). There are some amazing war experiences...

See my website. banklineonline.com. to browse the material.
Happy reading.

"Shipping Today and Yesterday" have been sitting on a piece about a long and memorable voyage in the old " Irisbank", and they have scheduled it for publication in July.

That's all we're left with sadly - memories and nostalgia!

The latest effort is likely to be out in Sea Breezes this summer - precise month to be announced. It is headed "Bank Line's building boom", and focuses on the period 1957 to 1967 when no less than 50 new ships were built! It includes pictures of some of the vessels.
