Laid up ships in River Fal 1950's

I am looking for a list of ships laid up in the Fal during the late 50's and early 60's in the Tolverne Reach, King Harry ferry area.

I can remember Clyde Ranger being in a trot along with the tanker San Antonio but the rest are a mere blur.

If you can throw a light on a few names I would be grateful.

Thank you

Dave,
I think Hain's had ships laid up in the Fal in the mid fifties, starting with the Tregenna, Tregothnan, and the Treglisson, they were I think Hain's last Steam ships.
Yours aye,

slick

Stick.

Yes they were laid up in the Fal but in the very lower reaches not right up at Tolverne.

Thanks for your reply.

Dave

I spent some time on a tier of BP Tankers moored in the Fal early in 1960, one of them was the British Harmony, they were all dead ships, only oil lights at night. In the evenings, I used to skull the jolly boat up to the Heron at Malpas for a bit of company, and a couple of pints of course.
Bruce.

I know it's an old post, but have just read it.
I worked on the laid up ships in the early 60's all BP Tankers.
I worked on the Tolverne Raft, British Piper, Duke or the Earls, Successs,
Just off the Ferry where the Ranger, Rose, Marshall, Andros Fighter,
Nest Raft down was the Knight, Harmony,Major, Isles. others I forget.

I joined a London Greek.. (Drakeship Navigation) Merchant Duke - somewhere down there 1963 and took her to Glasgow for scrap or refit, Took them ages to get the old steam engines going fit enough to get us there, we broke down and drifted NUC at least twice a day.. sure she was laid up in the Fal for about a year with just a watchman or two aboard before we joined her...

From email received from a credible local person:

ANDROS FIGHTER 30/11/57 - 21/2/1963
QUEENSGARTH 8/12/61 - 5/5/63
KNIGHTSGARTH 16/12/61 - 28/8/63
DUKESGARTH 30/11/1962 - 15/4/63

I'm researching Garth ships in summer of 62 at King Harry - so please do let me know if you get any info about that subset of what you're looking for!

Best,

Jackie Pascoe
