Pensions for Serco staff

Now that Serco run marine services and all their vessels are under the Red Ensign I assume that the marine staff all belong to the Merchant Navy Pension Fund (if it's still called that?). Can anyone clarify please?

Waighty,
Serco have their own company pension fund which I believe all employees are allowed to join. If memory serves the Northlink boys are in it.

Many thanks Jim. I was only asking as when I joined what was then the RMAS I transferred my MNOPF into the PCSPS and gained a lot of extra reckonable service - some 2 years and 10 months worth. I assume the Serco guys have not transferred their civil service pensions across to the Serco fund. As they've got Northlink guys as well, Serco appear to have all government contracts sewn up

Whether I would have been better off by leaving it in the MNOPF I don't know.

Mike
