Hi herky, had a look through emails but cant find that one. I have voyage details of world trip she did in Feb 1971 and i know she went to some of these on your one as can remember my mate mentioning them. On the return trip from oz Feb 1971 she went to Darwin, Singapore, Hong Kong, Kobe, Yokohama, Honolulu ,Vancouver, Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Acapulco, Balboa, Cristobal, Jamaica, Nassau, Port Everglades, Bermuda, Cherbourg and Southampton. Hopefully this is of some help. I know he said they were in Sydney for 4 days .Will keep looking. Dave

Hi Herky, bit slow with this reply. Couldnt find any emails with ports. Only one could find was my mate joined Oronsay 15th Oct 1971 and did a few cruises i guess as signed off 21 Nov 71 then signed back on 6 Dec 71 and signed off 30 March 72, your trip i think. I would go with Guildhall way as suggested if you havnt already as i got a few voyage cards of some of my ships and the price was pretty good. Actually got the whole voyage service of two of them from first voyage to last under their name, about 15-17 years of voyages. . Most interesting to see where they went in their voyages.

Herky, I think I have the info you need. I was one of the Radio Officers on Oronsay at the time, as was my Woman Assistant Purser wife to be. I recognise your face from the ringing in the New Year photo. Is this a photo of you ringing in the NY on 31 December 1970 or 31 December 1971? I have details for both of those trips but I was not on board if it was 31 December 1972 as I had left to get married.

Herky, my wife will not thank me for posting this as she absolutely hated the WAP's compulsory, and expensive, Hardy Amies dress, also I do not think her eye make up meets current approval either. This was taken in 1971 somewhere in the Pacific and wondered if you recognised either of us? She remembers you as well by the way!

We did two cruises plus a cruise to nowhere from Sydney, which was a disaster. I still have a letter from the captain about that cruise dated 4th October 1972, although the cruise to nowhere was the weekend after arriving in Sydney at 0700 on Friday 29th September 1972. Anyway we did a short cruise, and a longer one after.

First cruise:

Sydney leave at 1200 Sunday 1st Ocober 1972

Nuku'alofa 0800 - 1800 Thursday 5th October 1972

Auckland 0730 - 23.30 Sunday 8th October 1972

Sydney arrive 0800 Wednesday 11th October 1972

Second cruise

Sydney leave at 1600 Thursday 12th October 1972

Rabaul 0700 - 1700(at anchor) Monday 16th October 1972

Yokohama 0930 - 1400 Saturday to Tuesday 21st to 24th October 1972

Kobe 0800 - 0700 Wednesday to Saturday 25th to 28th October 1972

Nagasaki 0800 - 1900(at anchor)Sunday 29th October 1972

Hong Kong 1600 - 1200 Tuesday to Friday 31st October to 3rd November 1972

Honiara 0900 - 1800(at anchor) Thursday 9th November 1972

Arrive Sydney 1200 Sunday 12th November 1972

At Rabaul we filled our water tanks from a submarine!

I have a picture of her at Honiara and Nagasaki below.
