Thanks for the quick reply.
I am 82 now and have been retired for 20 years.
I live in a small market town in mid Wales, and I am
enjoying life.
I intend to live forever, and so far so good.
Peter Baker.

Hi Peter,
It sounds like you are also enjoying life, I am 74 retired and enjoying life to the full. Perhaps Harrisons taught us all something worthwhile, have you had contact with other ex harrison's?
Best regards Geoff

Hi John
Nice to hear from you, but I think its for you to sit down and enjoy life. What ships were you on? I think you can see my list somewhere here. The guys that you mention just don't ring a bell to me but its been a long time. I do remember Tiny Hughes and a guy called Brodey, he lived close to me on the south side of Manchester.
Kind regards
Geoff

Harrison's

I was a jos on the Novelist late 1964 docked in Liverpool Xmas time never sailed with company again, but I sailed with Capt Harry Trainor when we bought the launch Indefatigable around from Plymouth to Liverpool, did you ever sail with him I believe his nickname was Frank Sinatra as he was known for his saying I'll do it my way,I don't recall the capt of the Novelist but he was some sailor the way he handled her in some of the most worst weather I have ever know great respect for all captains good or bad and I have sailed with some right bar stewards I could never have done their job even if I had the knowledge to do so.

Hi John,
Not sure if you remember a Charlie Pye from Wallasey. He was my Dad and spent many years with Harrisons. He passed away back in 1979 not long after retirement in Shropshire. I joined as a cadet for the 4 years, but alas no ships at the end of the cadetship. I remember the names Tony Billington, Bob Fidderman from the past. Great days visiting the older ships in Liverpool, London and Avonmouth. Remember the Governor and Benefactor especially. Been away from the UK for 22 years now out in the Middle East so lost touch with Wirral and Wallasey life.
All the best, John Pye

Hi Geoff, I served my time with Harrisons and then as third and Second Mate, 1959 to 1966. We were around at the same time but I don't think we ever met. there are some names I remember , Harry Traynor, I sailed with when he was Second Mate in the "Crofter" early sixties and Tony Billington was Second Mate in the "Wanderer". Pat Baker, I'm sure I sailed with but time has dimmed my memory. T&J's were a good company to work for and I still find it hard to believe that it has all gone. I think we had the best of it then. I'm retired in Australia now and was a pilot for the last twenty five years and I certainly would not like to be at sea nowadays.
