Just stepping on Board !!! ..Newbie Alert !!

Hi there
I thought I'd say Hi !!

I'm Barry J.A Bond and just found this forum ( In a search for material and information on King Edward VII Nautical College where I did a Pre Sea 1 year course in 1964-1965 ... as superb experience !! Living in the hall of residence in the west -End and commuting daily to the East End and ( I think it was Stepney Street ! in the east end .. walking past the Kosher Butchers shops and the newsagents with the Cream soda fountains in the window !) Those where the days of the ss Glen Strathallan " as the College training ship and sailing and rowing whalers in the East India Docks and Seamanship lessons on the River Thames on the launch "Cabot" I think it was, tied up alongside the "President" ..happy days
I then Joined BPTC as a Deck apprentice
and after tickets sailed as both 3rd and 2nd Mate ..on a variety of ships ( See Profile)

be happy to catch up with anyone from that 1965 -1971 period

My Time in both KEVII NC ( Pre Sea and 1st mates Tickets at John Cass )
BPTC
and South Shields Marine and Tech (Mid App Relase course and 1st mates Certificate) ........were happy , happy days !!

Hi Barry,

Welcome to Shipsnostalgia. There are many of us in BP Shipping section.
A couple of years since I was first in touch with you.
