Shipspotting.com - Trojan ?

Over the past couple of days Malwarebytes (Premium Edition- lifetime subscription) has identified shipspotting.com as a malicious site and consequently blocked all access to it.

Message as follows "Website blocked due to trojan" and provides the IP address as 185. 32. 10. 34.

I offer the above as a precaution to all SN members for fear of a potential infection if no robust anti Malware application is on their computer .

Erimius

Perhaps I should have emphasised that on my computer Malwarebytes has blocked all access to shipspotting.com.

Not at all sure that other suites/programmes are blocking access to that site.

mine's the same, Malwarebytes gave me a Big warning not to go any further on the shipspotting site which is a pain as I was looking for photos of my brother's ships but found some on Ships Nostalgia, so thanks SN

A bit more info here,

https://sitecheck.sucuri.net/results/Shipspotting.com

Looks like the site is derelict, and very vulnerable to hacking. I wouldn't risk it.

Warnings are often the result of the website's certification not having been renewed (an admin oversight or lack of funds), rather than infection with malware.

I also run Malwarebytes. It was blocking a site I was looking at and wanted to follow something, so I emailed my Silver Surfing helpline who recommend Malwarebytes....

This was their reply...…..

Malware bytes automatically blocks all sites with the ‘.godaddysites.com’ this is due to the higher risk of them carrying malicious content. As long as you can guarantee that this website is from a trusted source then you should be okay to add this as an exclusion

I think it refers to those - like SN that have public access - who have no control over what the public post, so they block the site. If you are happy with it, then chose the allow option.
