It is interesting going back years my Grandfather was a Trinity House Pilot in Shoreham 1900 to 1936 apart for 4 years during WW1 1900 when he started the Gas Works at Portslade was in full production and Stephenson Clarke's Vessels were in Shoreham every day with Coal Father was Lamp Trimer in the old Seaford for a year or so then went in to Kelly's then came ashore and worked for Shoreham Harbour Trustees I was a Boatman in the 60s and tied up so many S.Cs ships then in the later part of my life in was an Agent in the Port and was the Agent for the Hartings last trip the Steynings last trip so from 1900 to the late 1990s my Family earnt a living out of S.Cs Vessels
