Hi Alan,
I was browsing through the forums when I spotted your post about me being mate and purser on the City of St Albans in 1970. I had forgotten about that, but of course remembered the alcohol issue, one bottle per crew member. I think Hugh Devlin was the purser who went home and left me in the lurch. It was 47 years ago now, how time flies. I have just recently got my free TV licence, makes me feel ancient.

Yes it was Devlin and the Old Man was BF Walker.. He had relieved Hine . We got " Dolly Danby " in Liverpool until Devlin came back

I sailed with Pete if I remember right in the City of Montreal 72-73.He always joined with 3 pcs baggage 1] gear 2] tool box 3] his stash of mags
