Leslie Grantham

Yesterday Leslie Grantham died aged 71

Probably best known for his character 'Dirty Den' in the UK soap EastEnders

Does anyone know if he appeared on anything else tv/movie-wise?

RIP Leslie

He did another series called 'The Paradise Club' in which he played a London gangster (bit of type casting ?) but he's appeared in 'The Bill' and a number of other programmes.

I remember The Paradise Club because they shot one episode on the coast near where I live, which involved shooting up a local landmark with a sub machine gun. (They didn't actually shoot it up, but it surely looked like they did on the TV.)

Bit scary seeing somebody go at 71 which is where I am on the time line.

Didn't he get sacked for watching porn, and carrying out a sex act on himself at work in his second carnation on Eastenders ? Not that I'm besmirching the dead.

Don't worry to much about the time line Bob, It's a lottery, I've lost 2 mates this week at the tender ages of 55 and 52, thats 4 mates I've lost this year 3 of them 55 and under. Keep doing whatever it is your doing, it obviously works.

Cheers

Can't even have a laugh these days. Mind you, wanking on a carnation is a bit over the top.

Leslie appeared in Resurrection of the Daleks in 1984.
He played the part of baddies and gangsters in a number of films or tv
productions and will always be remembered as 'Dirty Den' of Eastenders, as mentioned before.

RIP Leslie

He fronted the game show "Fort Boyard", with Melinda Messenger as the obligatory 'eye candy'.

I'm no prude boys, good grief never met a seaman who is, however I do object to this obvious abuse of licence payers money, Eastenders being a BBC show, and the offence occurring during work time, using work computers. Nice to know where the cash is going.

I think it was sucking his finger that upset people. Once they realised he wasn't tasting the gravy that is. RIP Leslie Grantham.

Are we forgetting that he was a Convicted murderer, he did 10 years for robbing and killing a German Taxi driver and after his prison term he was dishonorably discharged from the British army...

You never know somebody might put him up for a posthumous medal.

That's a pretty light sentence for murder and robbery - did he do his time in Germany or in a Military Prison or what?

Finished his time in Leyhill Prison. Average sentence for murder at the time. Why do you think one of the Great train robbers said 'Who have we murdered' after they got 30 years.

It has been debated that if he had robbed and killed a British taxi driver in the UK he would undoubtedly have got a longer sentence, remember this was in 1966 and sentences handed out at that time were tougher..

He served all of his sentence in various UK prisons.

Thanks Frank. Maybe it was the euphoria of the World Cup win.

He would probably rather be remembered for w*nking! We will give him the benefit of the doubt and say he thought the war was still on!

And anyway, what is so bad about w*nking at work? Shipping company personnel departments have been doing for years! RIP Dirty Den.

He could have come up with a better excuse, in his defense he tried to say that he did not know that the gun was loaded, what kind of a soldier was he then?.....................
