"australind"

any info on trinder andersons "australind" on which i sailed as j.o.s, in 1974 .joined le havre. completed loading outbound in rotterdam for,tahiti,new caledonia and melbourne. loaded townsville for rotterdam?. i had to leave ship in durban homeward bound with apendicitis. lost all track of ship after then.glad to hear from any of crewmembers from that voyage.

I was a visitor onboard on her first voyage in the port of Guanta in Venuzela as my vessel was on next berth

Jeff it was the SD14 one it had loaded its first cargo in Norway went to Gulf then onto S.America

Hugh, at present it's a negative from me-- but for completeness here's the 1904 version of Australind

also, a couple of pretty poor images of Australind, pics from 1961 and 1971.

There was, I believe, an Australind before 1904. There is a mast and plaque close to the port in New Plymouth. It was an Australind which was wrecked close to the port. I will have to have a visit to New Plymouth for some more information

Hi John,
Thanks for that, I got the 1944 ship from Nigel Collett.

Mirimar has a total of 7 Australinds. Jim B, the one you mention before 1904 is
Australind, Launched November 1886. 1019 tons.
Passenger/Cargo
History:
1904 OHIO - OHIO No.1 - 1908 OHIO - 1908 TUCK YUE.
Wrecked near Port Arthur prior to 29.11.13
