Smile Hi from Auckland, New Zealand

I joined last week and what a great site this is.

I was five years with Blue Funnel in catering dept. including 3 months trapped in Suez Canal in '67.(my main claim to fame)

Left Blue Flue for 6 months in Holyhead ferry, Hibernia.(great summer of '69)

Joined Federal and NZSC including Dorset(trip from hell!!, the Chief steward was a complete nutter) and the Westmorland, 3 years including a double header MANZ run.
She was the happiest ship I ever sailed in but I ended up jumping out of her in NZ( the writing was on the wall even back then).

Have lived in NZ for past 34 years and regret that we don't see anywhere near the number of ships in port that we used to.

Regards Phil

Hi and welcome I met a guy in a bar once and he had a tie with a crest which I cannot remember, but he said it was a very exclusive club, entitlement to it was open to all crew members which had been trapped in the lakes in the Suez Canal
