When I was on the "Neleus" in 1961,a lad joined us in Freemantle or Adelaide,to go home to go the Cadet school I think ,his family lived on an Island in Oz manning a Lighthouse, never got to the Mainland very often,I cannot remember how him and his sister were educated.A tall lad with red hair he use to walk around a lot in his bare feet,{no steel toecaps}.I always wondered how he got on.His nickname was Blue I wonder why. ha ha.

I was up for Second Mates ticket in the late 50ís with Jimmy Geddie who came from Findhorn.

From what I was told, he settled in Aberdeen and ended up in supply vessels out of that port.

Richard Woodman

Some of you may remember Richard Woodman from BluFlu days and spoken to him recently via email.

BEWARE. His email account has been hacked and you may well receive an email purportedly from him requesting funds. This is a scam. Either ignore the email or report it to the originating ISP.

Tell him to change his password. That usually sorts it out.

Looking for an old mate of mine, Jim Farrell AB, lived in the Bidston area. Last heard of sailing in Aeneas, 1965.

Hi. Wonder if anyone can help.

I'm trying to find out where my Dad went to whilst working at sea.
My Dad unfortunately passed away at a young age so I did not get a chance to really talk to him about his travels.

My date range is not great I'm afraid but I suppose you never know what you can find out there.

My Dad was with Blue Funnel in the early 50's I reckon and My Mum seems to think either the Pelius or Perseus rings a bell.

My Dad's name is Gerry Baty and our family used to live in Birkenhead.

He did his training at Aberdovey. My uncle's are Cain's. Dickie Cain also was at sea with White Star I believe.

Please feel free to get in touch with any info.
Cheers.
Paul.

Jim Geddie, originally from Findhorn, has been known to me from the time we were up for Second Mate tickets in 1958.
I met up with him at Kobe in Nov 1962, when my ship the Benmhor berthed a couple of piers away from the Peleus, and we visited each other.
The last time I saw him was when he and his wife were guests at my wedding in the following year.
Jim settled in Aberdeen and, from what I heard, ended up as Master in supply vessels sailing out of that port.

I'm not certain if he completed his cadetship or not.
The second certainly did and I believe continued in their service. Name of Gordon Vickery and would have been a cadet around the late 50's,early 60's.
Tony Ablett and i did two voyages on the cadet ship Diomed, 1957, regret no further news of him, I believe he came from northern Ireland. Ships captain Moore, cadet bosun Paul Leese any one know what became of him?

Frank mosley

Does anyone remember frank mosley? He served on myrmidon during the 2nd world war, and on various empire ships including empire chapman, he would have been in the engine room, and was a third officer ?

Hong Kong Mary?? I never knew her as that! She was the youngest of the three sisters and she married Jacky Cheng the taylor whose coat-hangers still hang in many a ward-robe all over the world.

They had 4 off-spring and they now live in U.S.A..

(An extraordinary friendship that began nigh on 70 years ago!)
